Browse the Web Safely

  1. Ads are Bad:

    • NEVER click on an ad in a search result
    • NEVER click on an ad on a website

  2. ALWAYS use an adblocker or a web browser with one built into it:
A good ad blocker is essential when surfing the net as it blocks not only ads but also malware and most phishing attempts.
Even the FBI recommends using an ad blocker for protection.

Keeping Email Account Protected

  1. The most important password is your email account password:

    • Never use this password for any other website
    • Make it a complex password (lower/uppercase letters, numbers, special characters)
    • Don't use your username or any personal info in your password
    • Change it every now and then

  2. Besides your Windows login password, this is the only password you should remember OR write down somewhere at home or keep backed up somewhere other than on only one device.
This is where Password Managers (mentioned later) come in handy.

Keeping Steam Skins and Items Safe From Scams

  1. Before using any Counter-Strike skin related website first sign into Steam; because if you're already signed into Steam through your web browser no website will ever ask you to fill in your login data or use your Mobile Authenticator.
You will always be able to just click "Sign in" on the Steam prompt, if a website is asking you to log in manually it's a scam website.

  2. NEVER use the same password twice, never use the same password that you use for your email on any website or vice versa.

  3. ALWAYS use a Password Manager app and/or get your web browser to remember all of your unique passwords for websites.
    Most recommended one is: Bitwarden

  4. Unless you're at work, using a work computer or using a laptop that could possibly get stolen NEVER type your passwords in order to login to websites.
Your web browser should save your login information so that when you click on the login prompt it will show that there is login information saved for that website and by that happening that shows that the website is genuine.

  5. NEVER use the Auto-Fill feature.

  6. NEVER click or copy any links in unsolicited emails or from strangers in messages.

Optional Tips

  1. If available for your email and/or websites as an option use 2FA.

  2. If available as an option use passkeys instead of passwords. However, widespread passkey adoption will take time, so experts recommend keeping your password manager and using it to store passkeys, too. Many of the password managers allow its users to store passkeys in their password manager vault.
